the story

I am somewhat of a planner geek. Name a planner—I’ve probably tried it. In the first years of college, my days were disorganized. This was a problem.

Details overwhelmed me.

Deadlines were missed.

And my days were not unified.

The systems I tried left me stifled in the structure. And worst of all? The moments were frantic and I rarely remembered God. I wanted to do my best work in school without forgetting Him in the process, and so far? Nothing was working.

Planners either left me overwhelmed or uninspired.

I needed a method...

Where My mind could breathe,

My deadlines could be kept,

And my heart did not forget HIM.

The only thing I knew starting out was I liked.

I carried around a binder with blank paper to every class, and tested layouts and designs like a mad scientist. After a year—the method clicked into a place—and I knew it was time to take to action. I had to share what I had created with the world.

The semester I committed to using the planner method I had created, I was astounded by its impact.

In a limited time frame,

I accomplished concrete goals I thought impossible,

while being less forgetful of the presence of God.

Each day I was more likely to remember Him, jotting down the moments I saw Him. Taking my projects and tasks seriously, and giving them my heart, welcomed God into them. It was a breakthrough.

I ended up with a handcrafted planner I call the “moment” planner. I’ve learned a secret. If I can devote the MOST SIMPLE and redundant moments in my day to God I actually can give Him most of my day.

Godspeed,
Em
